After Acquiring the Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas Columbia Sussex Changes its Casino Name

On May 4, 2007, taking advantage of their purchase of the Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Columbia Sussex has renamed their casino division to Tropicana Casinos and Resorts.

Columbia Sussex, which is located in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, owns and operates gambling casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and around the United States. A new Columbia Sussex headquarters is currently being built at the Thomas More Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

The 8 story, 100,000 sq ft establishment is expected to be completed this fall. The building overlooks I-275 on Turkeyfoot Road and is easily seen from the interstate.

The Headquarters of the Columbia Sussex are currently at Grandview Drive in Fort Mitchell. William J. Yung, III, the CEO of the privately owned casino organization said that The Tropicana is one of the most recognizable names in the industry and it will be beneficial for them to take advantage of that recognition.

Columbia Sussex's flagship property in Las Vegas is fast becoming a 10,000 room casino/resort establishment with a convention facility. The casino/resort facility is expected to be completed in 2010.

The resort will feature a 600,000 sq ft convention area, 5 hotel facilities and a 100,000 sq ft gaming area which will hold casino table games and slot machines. Columbia Sussex is also currently planning to remodel the Tiffany Theater and add an additional 500 seating capacity to it.

Columbia also plans to change the name of their Ramada Express Casino in Laughlin, Nevada to Tropicana Express. Next year, Columbia will change the name of their Lake Tahoe Casino to reflect their new identity. Columbia is also planning to use the Tropicana name in their 13 other casinos.
