Delaware Gaming Facilities Anticipates the Launch of Casino Games

Casino tables like baccarat could be operating in the state of Delaware in a few months, following the approval of the casino table games legislation on January 28th, 2010 by Governor Jack Markell.

The gaming legislation, which permits the operation of casino table games in Delaware's three racinos (Harrington Raceway and Casino, Delaware Park and Dover Downs), were approved by the Senate in fifteen-four vote with a pair of abstentions.

The legislation was approved by the House last week. The Delaware Lottery Commission will decide which casino table games are allowed, which will include any casino table games in any gaming facilities in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and will create rules for their management.

The launch of casino table games in Delaware is expected to produce as many as seven hundred fifty casino jobs in the state. Delaware would receive 29.4%, racinos would receive 66.1% and the horse racing industry would receive 4.5%.

Casino table games could be operating in the state racinos within five months by some estimates, which would beat the state of Pennsylvania's introduction of casino table games.

Pennsylvania casinos would need six to nine months. Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell approved a legislation earlier this month allowing casino table games in the casinos in the state, which is projected to earn as much as $250 million in new tax revenue for Pennsylvania in this fiscal year.
