Lakes Entertainment Collaborates With MyOhioNow.com to Develop Casino in Ohio

On April 30th, 2008, Casino operator Lakes Entertainment Incorporated has jumped in as a development partner for the propose six hundred million dollars gambling resort in Ohio. Lakes Entertainment, which is based in Minneapolis, commented that they finalized an agreement with MyOhioNow.com, an organization that is pushing for the construction of a casino in Interstate 71 and Route 73 in Clinton County, which is located in the southeastern area of Dayton.

That organization, which was started by Brad Pressman and Rick Lertzman, is trying to get 402,225 signatures on the state's eighty-eight counties in order to have a referendum on November 4th, 2008. Supporters of the casino facility commented that the casino will be able to provide five thousand jobs and produce around $200 million in tax profits.

Lakes Entertainment commented that project would showcase two hundred thousand square feet of gambling space which features 5,000 slot machines and 100 casino table games and a hotel facility that has 1,500 rooms. A construction plan shows that the building of the project, which would take about eighteen months, would begin within the period of eighteen months of getting approval from the state voters. But getting approval from the voters would be a monumental task because the three previous gaming referendums that were staged in 1990, 1996 and 2006 were soundly dismissed.

As of the present, Lakes Entertainment has existing agreements with 5 casino locations in the states of Michigan, California and Oklahoma. The organization also operates the Cimarron Casino facility by the Iowa Tribe from Oklahoma and the Four Winds casino facility for the Pokagon Tribe of Potawatomi Indians. Lakes Entertainment lost around $15 million on $28 million in profits last year.
