The MGM Detroit Casino Opening
On October 4th, 2007, Detroit resident Tom Rhoton excitedly exclaimed that Las Vegas style gambling has arrived in Detroit after enjoying the first hours of opening by the brand new MGM Grand Detroit.
The gambling experience feels like you are in Las Vegas instead of the old MGM Grand casino but without the feeling that you are in a casino in the Las Vegas strip. When you are inside the MGM Grand Detroit, you will feel a unique gaming experience in Detroit.
Of all the 4,500 slot machines, which has a betting limit of 1 cent to $100, MGM casino features a lot of different slot machine themes like the Wheel of Fortune and others.
The 90 casino table games did not offer a limit lower than $10 on the opening night in spite of the casino's publicist insisting that $5 blackjack tables are available for customers who have a minimum budget.
Some of the casino table games that are offered in the casino are Pai Gow, Roulette and High Tie blackjack. The poker room of the casino features Seven Card Stud, Omaha Hi-lo, Limit and No Limit Holdem poker.
Some of the area that needs improvement are the inexperienced bartenders, missing ashtrays in the slot machines and others. Even with the crowded casino, customers had no problem of finding an available slot machine.
The casino table games are crowded and the craps tables were noisy and lively. But the poker room was not full during the opening. Although the casino had only open for business for a few hours, the smoke in the casino was in a medium to high condition. The non-smoking areas in the casino facility include the poker room, the restaurants in the gambling floor and some slot machines.
