On October 14th, 2008, the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Tribe have broken ground on their brand new location for their reservation casino. The casino is due to be finished on November 2009. Chairman Buck Jordain says its location and amenities will attract players living in the Bemidji area. The casino facility will feature blackjack and poker tables and slot machines, a hotel facility, a restaurant, a gift shop, banquet hall and entertainment facility.

It is situated on the reservation's southern border. The casino facility is being constructed in part with a $31 million loan from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux. It is expected to provide jobs for fifty people. The tribe already has an on reservation casino facility, but it is located in the Red Lake Humanities Center. Chairman Buck Jordain hopes that they will be also be able to attract customers from neighboring areas and earn well despite the sluggish economy.

Jourdain commented that when the brand new casino opens, that facility will revert to a school and community center appropriate for children's activities. Red Lakes owns Seven Clans Casinos in Thief River Falls and Warroad.
