Casinos in Indiana To Be Affected By New Casino Facilities

On June 15th, 2008, now that the casino facilities are open at the state of Indiana's 2 horse racing tracks, officials are observing on how long or the waiting period for the state's other casino facilities to feel the heat from the other facilities in the state and out of state. Casino establishments at the Indiana Downs in Shelbyville and Hoosier Park in Anderson recently opened this month.

Mr. Jeff Michie is the assistant general manager of Belterra Casino establishment in Switzerland County. He said that new casino facilities in the state can hurt the Belterra casino. Belterra expects players from the Indianapolis area to choose a closer gaming destination from their own home.

The executive director of the Indiana Gaming Commission, Ernest Yelton commented that those who will feel the additional pressure should be the French Lick Resort Casino located in Orange County and three riverboat casinos in southeastern Indiana: the Argosy, Belterra and Grand Victoria riverboat casinos.

Yelton said that the Caesars casino in Harrison County will only be affected to a minimum degree. The Casino Aztar in Evansville may not be affected in some way and the casino facilities located on Lake Michigan not even feel anything from the brand new casinos that will be constructed in the state.
