Hard Rock International Plans to Expand Presence in Asia

On October 27th, 2007, top officials of the Hard Rock International from the United States commented that they were currently on the lookout for good opportunities at the hotel and casino industry in the Philippines and the rest of the Asia Pacific region. They also announced the renovation of the Hard Rock Cafe in Makati City, Philippines.

The company president and chief executive Hamish Dodds said that the Hard Rock Cafe in Glorietta 3 would undergo a major renovation so that Hard Rock Makati will be up to the standard of the 123 Hard Rock Cafes in 46 countries. Dodds commented that the technique had been proved reliable in the United States with revenues in the company-owned Hard Rock cafes doubling after the remodeling efforts. Hard Rock Cafe Holdings Co. from Singapore holds the Hard Rock Cafe Philippine franchise and other cafes in the region.

Dodds commented that the Makati cafe remodeling will include the interior of the cafe, changing the menu, upgrading the music system and getting more memorabilia. The Seminole Tribe from Florida had announced in December their $965 million buyout of the Hard Rock International from Orlando and other business entities from the Rank Group PLC.

On March 2007, tribal chiefs announced that the buyout would widen the Seminole Tribe's business interests. The chairman of the Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment Incorporated James Allen commented that they expect a lot of growth in the region.

The organization plans to go to Singapore, Bali, Seoul and Tokyo. Allen, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Seminole Tribe's gambling operations, commented that they are currently looking for casino gaming opportunities in the Philippines.
